I Don’t Attract Hunks, I Attract Hobos.

Hobo, Transient, Hitchhicker whatever you may want to call them.  It seems like I am a magnet that attracts them.

My Parents own a campground/RV Park on Interstate 40 (old Route 66) in Texas.  Lately I have been helping my parents by working at the park when they have to be gone.  It never fails, the days I am there I will get these people carrying a backpack walking straight to the front door.  Awww man, I think in my mind.  I hope he ain’t gonna rob me or worse.  The last 3 times I have kept the RV park for my parents this has happened.  Each time I offered them a sandwich, and asked where they were headed and wished them luck on their journey.

You know if you think about how many types of people travel down an interstate like I-40 I feel really lucky that my parents haven’t had more problems than they have.  There have been a few incidents, like the cops pulling up and surrounding a camper because the men in the camper were suspected for bombing something.  That was a long time ago, way before 9-11.

I just kinda thought to myself, “Why can’t it be a really handsome hunk walking down the road, instead of these wild eyed, crazy hair, no teeth hobos?”

But they were all really nice to me because I was really nice to them.  They could have been thieves, murderers, druggies, rapist, whatever.  I made them a sandwich and wished them luck on their journey.

“KNOCK ON WOOD”  hope the future hobos are as kind.
