My Theme Sucks, I Know.

Saturday, May 31st, 2008

I am so bored with my website.  I know I am stuck here with the basic wordpress theme.  I know that it needs an update.  I have tried changing it once or twice but lost my sidebars, so I went back to the generic wordpress theme until I could research and get it all figured out.

A really good friend of mine sent me some good links and I am going to take a look at them, and see if I can get a new look to my site soon.

If I learn even one new thing a day I will be so much further ahead next year at this time.

Here are the links my friend from 1and1.com sent me (Thanks Jesse@1and1.com):

Who Am I ?

question mark

I was at Affiliate Summit and visiting with Mark Weiglus from 45n5.com, he was in charge of the blog room.  As we visited the question came up, “What is your Niche”?  “What are you interested in”?  I was almost embarrased.  “I have no idea.” I thought to myself.

Everyone in the Affiliate marketing community talk about finding your “Niche”.  Oh my God, I have no clue who I am.  I have been a wife and a mother for so many years and I have no idea what I am all about.  Sure I am all about my kids, and I love my husband, but my kids are grown, my husband has gotten a promotion and is all excited about his work and that is his life now.

My Parents live close, and thank Goodness, I am close as they are getting older and time is something you can never get back.  I treasure each precious moment with my Parents.

There are so many women who have blogs about their kids, being a mom, strong women.  Yeah, yeah, yeah,….whatever!   I am nothing special.  Who am I?  I am like every other woman in the world who has dedicated their lives to their family.  Which is so admirable, don’t get me wrong, I am proud of myself, and I love my family more than life itself.

But Who Am “I”

When the “Name” of your “Town” affects your “Life”

 St. Patrick’s Day Celebration

I have lived in Shamrock, Texas for most of my life. (their ain’t no way I am telling anyone how many years that is) but it is long enough.

After the 1st of the year, everything here starts to focus on (you guessed it) St. Patrick’s Day.  Everyone here starts putting everything in their life on the back burner and they start planning for the “BIG” celebration.

Over the years I have been involved in so many ways, from decorating the stage for the “Miss Irish Rose” beauty contest, designing the logo used for all advertising and tee shirts, helping my kids decorate their bikes, go-carts, and golf carts, so they can ride down the mile or two of main street, wave and throw candy. I have made an Irish Colleen dress for my daughter to wear because she was a hostess to the beauty contestants.   I have even painted store windows with Shamrock’s to make the town seem more festive, and so much more……

Am I tired of it?  Actually, YES !  I am going to have a lot of company that will crash at my house over the weekend.  So that actually means, I have to clean !!!!  Oh my God, I have to clean !!!!  I have to COOK !!!!

I am sorry, I should be looking at this as such a festive event when my kids come home, bring their friends, there is laughter, there is fun, but there can also be drama.  Oh well “be positive, be positive, be positive, ………..”  If I say it enough, do you think I will convince myself?

Okay here it is my list:

clean house, do laundry, buy groceries, make sure I have enough places for everyone to sleep, make sure my linens are clean and that means do more laundry, did I mention dust?  I have to sweep the front porch.

Oh my I am a bitch, aren’t I? (can I say that on a blog?)

The thing is I want so much to focus on myself and my efforts here with my websites and blogs.  I just got back from Affiliate Summit West, I met so many people, and I have so many ideas in my head and now, I have to change channels in my brain, and think about St. Patrick’s Day

I need to make this a positive thing.  Maybe I will just post about the events, what I am doing to get ready and all the good things about the celebration……

Thanks for letting me vent….I needed to !

I attended Affiliate Summit West 2008, in Las Vegas

I learned so much.  I attended many seminars and social events.

I met many people face to face, whom I have contacted previously online.

This included Amy Rodriguez, Carolyn Tang, Kim Rowley, Mark Wielgus.

I saw people I recognized from the industry, but didn’t get a chance to visit with them.

Joel Comm, Jim Kukral, Sam Harrelson, just to name a few

I also got to say hi to my favorite affiliate managers, Jesse Bouman (1and1.com)

and Rickey Moreland Join Match.com

It was just an awesome event, and I will be blogging about the many seminars as

soon as I sort out my notes and thoughts.

What Happens in Vegas, Stays in Vegas! I Don’t Think So!

Tuesday, February 12th, 2008

I am going to Las Vegas February 23rd - 27th to the Affiliate Summit, and I am so excited.

I have so much to learn, and the people associated with the Affiliate Summit are some of the most helpful people I have come across.

I am not planning on leaving anything in Las Vegas.  I know when I go, I will be bringing back knowledge, new friends, and lots of creative ideas.

I appreciate Shawn Collins, Missy Ward, Amy Rodriguez, and everyone else I have met through Affiliate Summit

I will be letting you know all the exciting details about my Las Vegas experience.
